SKU: 17 Mandi

Over the course of my wine career, I have had the great fortune to make wine in several unique places around the world besides Santa Barbara County. This wine celebrates the wines and the people that I was fortunate enough to learn about in three of those places. While working in Walla Walla Washington, my focus was mostly Cabernet Sauvignon. My time in Mendoza, Argentina was spent producing Malbec. Finally, one of my most favorite experiences was in Friuli, Italy where I was introduced to Refosco, a wonderfully fruity yet peppery grape. All three of these varieties are represented here and blend very well together.

The word Mandi is from Friulian dialect and is not only a greeting, but conveys a blessing on those to whom it is spoken.

Tasting Notes
A mild pine needle scent is the first impression, followed by a wide spectrum of fruit aromas. Black cherry and cassis mingle with black plum. The smell of bare dirt after a brief rain. Plum skin and yellow plum flesh are apparent on the palate followed by deep cherry and blackberry notes. The finish is long and lingering with pleasant drying effect from the tannins.

Food Pairing Notes
Rich marbled meats and meat sauces. This wine has ample tannins and acidity to stand up to grilled or braised meats, mushroom sauces or meat ragu.
