Savoia is a blend of three wines: Nebbiolo (50%), Barbera (25%) and Syrah (25%). The Nebbiolo creates structure, tannins and savory aromatics, the Syrah adds fruit and fleshiness and the Barbera helps loosen the tannins and lengthen the finish.
The Alisos Barbera vineyard block was created especially for Palmina in 2002 by grafting Barbera onto established vines. After harvesting the first vintage in 2004, Steve quickly realized that the fruit was something very special.
Vermentino is widely planted in Sardinia along with other parts of Italy including Piemonte. Steve's Vermentino is closer in style to the Sardinian versions of this varietal, with pronounced minerality due to our maritime influence and barrel fermentation.
